“Can we all speak English, please!”

“While I am all for diversity, it is really annoying to constantly hear “Hindi/Mandarin/Vietnamese/Russian” at work.   They even forget others who don’t speak the language or do not choose to speak the language are in the room or the next cubicle.”  – Annoyed in Atlanta

Is Annoyed in Atlanta correct or wrong?

Is speaking another language other than English (in American workplaces) a sign of exclusion or simply a matter of ethnic identity and language affinity?  Is it OK if a group speaks in a different language when no other person is present or avoid doing so in settings such as meetings?
