Similar to how companies can have a vision statement and a mission statement, individuals can develop personal vision statements and personal mission statements.
What is a Personal Mission Statement?
A Personal Mission Statement is an encapsulation of your passion and purpose combined with your skills and competencies to achieve something that is beyond pure materialistic matters.
A Personal Mission Statement that simply says, “I want to be the richest person in the world” is not truly a mission statement but just a reflection of unbridled ambition. There is nothing wrong with personal goals and objectives that are about money and other materialistic things but a mission statement is typically about something more than you and reflects your values, hopes, and dreams for a higher purpose.
Generating a personal mission statement need not take weeks and pulling out your hair with endless iterations. The following template is an easy and practical way to develop a personal mission statement.
In the space below write a mission statement that includes the following and also see the example listed at the bottom of the form.
Tip: Keep it brief and memorable. Your Personal Mission Statement should briefly describe your purpose and your call to action for this life in just 1 or 2 sentences.
